BOILING SPRINGS FIRE DISTRICT


OUTDOOR BURNING IS PERMITTED IN GREENVILLE COUNTY UNDER THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS:
Residents of the Boiling Springs fire district should contact this department at (864)268-7780 and request an inspection prior to burning.
The burning is located not less than fifty (50) feet from any structure, and adequate provision is made to prevent the fire spreading to within fifty (50) feet of any structure.
The burning must be constantly attended by a competent person until the fire is completely extinguished.
The person must have a garden hose connected to a water supply or other extinguishing equipment ready for use.
Proper notification has been given to the State Forestry Commission at (800) 986-5299.
Construction site note: DHEC Air Quality Control Regulation 61-62.2 prohibits burning of construction debris within 500' of any occupied dwelling.
Burning shall be conducted between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. FIRES MUST BE COMPLETELY EXTINGUISHED AT 3:00 PM. (Exception: fires in connection with food preparation, campfire, and ceremonial occasions).
HAZARDOUS OR TOXIC MATERIALS SHALL NOT BE BURNED AT ANY TIME.
Open burning is prohibited on all Greenville county roads/drainage right-of-way.
The official charged with the enforcement of this section may prohibit open burning when atmospheric conditions, local circumstances, or other conditions exist that would make such fires hazardous.
IF YOUR FIRE GETS OUT OF CONTROL, DIAL 911 IMMEDIATELY, DO NOT DELAY!

ANY BURNING AUTHORIZED BY COUNTY ORDINANCE DOES NOT RELIEVE THE INDIVIDUAL CONDUCTING THE BURNING FROM ANY CIVIL OR CRIMINAL LIABILITIES WHICH MAY OCCUR AS A RESULT OF SUCH BURNING. ANY PERSON, FIRM, CORPORATION OR AGENT, WHO VIOLATES PROVISIONS OF COUNTY ORDINANCE 3201 SHALL BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND SHALL BE PUNISHED WITHIN THE JURISDICTIONAL LIMITS OF MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
